Military – Army Aircraft Maintenance MOS – Soaring Above the Battlefield

The aviation branch of the United States Army plays a role in the military by providing essential functions such as reconnaissance, transportation, and attack capabilities. Enlisted Aircraft Maintenance MOS:

  • MOS 15B: Aircraft Powerplant Repairer. Their primary responsibility is to maintain and repair aircraft engines, fuel systems and exhaust systems. They handle a range of fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.

  • MOS 15L: AH 64 Apache Helicopter Repairer. Ensures the functioning and upkeep of AH 64 Apache helicopters, which serve as the Armys main attack helicopter.
  • MOS 15N: Avionic Mechanic. This job focuses on maintaining and repairing avionic systems, such as communication, navigation, and identification equipment.
  • MOS 15R: Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Repairer. These professionals are responsible for the maintenance and repair of UAS commonly known as drones, which are increasingly used for reconnaissance and surveillance purposes.
  • MOS 15T: Aircraft Structural Repairer. This role involves repairing damage to parts of aircraft airframes like wings, fuselage and control surfaces.
  • MOS 15U: Air Traffic Control (ATC) Specialist. ATC specialists ensure the smooth flow of air traffic at Army airfields while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
  • MOS 15Y: AH 64D/E Apache Longbow Helicopter Repairer. These technicians specialize in maintaining and fixing AH 64D/E Apache Longbow helicopters. This variant of the Apache possesses enhanced fire control capabilities.

Warrant Officer Aircraft Maintenance MOS:

  • MOS 151A: Aviation Maintenance Technician. Warrant officers in this role supervise and manage enlisted personnel involved in aircraft maintenance. Prior experience in an enlisted MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) along with additional training is required.
