Avionics Technician – Communication Systems – A Guide to Aircraft Electronics

  • ACARS (Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System)- ACARS is a text-based datalink system that enables the transmission and reception of flight data between aircraft and ground stations. This includes information such as position reports, maintenance data and weather updates.
  • CPDLC (Controller Pilot Data Link Communications)- Taking datalink to the level CPDLC allows pilots and air traffic control (ATC) to engage in digital communication reducing radio congestion and enhancing operational efficiency.

Interphone Communication:

  • Flight Interphone System- Within the cockpit and cabin crew members utilize this communication system to effectively coordinate tasks and ensure smooth operations.
  • Passenger Address System- Pilots and cabin crew can make announcements and address passengers using this system keeping everyone well informed and entertained throughout the flight.
